John Halterman and the Beacon Wealth Management Team Hosts Packed Wisdom 2 Wealth Event Event on Taxes, Legacy Planning, and the Big Beautiful Bill

Bridgeport, WV – July 28, 2025

Bridgeport-based Beacon Wealth Management welcomed a full-capacity crowd at its highly anticipated Wisdom 2 Wealth: Taxes and Legacy Planning event, held Friday afternoon at the Beacon Wealth Management office.

This educational event drew retirees, pre-retirees, and families eager to protect their financial future while gaining a deeper understanding of tax-smart strategies and legacy planning essentials. From reducing retirement tax burdens to protecting generational wealth, the afternoon offered insight, guidance, and confidence.

A major highlight of the presentation was an easy-to-understand overview of the widely discussed Big Beautiful Bill — a federal tax and spending proposal currently in the national spotlight. Attendees learned how key provisions in the bill could benefit everyday American families, with a particular focus on the middle class and those preparing for retirement.

“There’s a lot of noise out there about this bill — but what many don’t realize is that it includes some incredibly valuable tax-saving opportunities for everyday people, not just the ultra-wealthy,” said John Halterman, Senior Wealth Advisor and Owner of Beacon Wealth Management. “We’re here to help families understand how these changes could impact them — and how to take full advantage of the opportunities available.”

Additional topics included:

  • Legal strategies to minimize taxes in retirement
  • Key estate planning tools like trusts, wills, and POAs
  • What to know now to avoid unnecessary taxes later
  • Real-life stories that helped bring the planning process to life

The event concluded with a live Q&A session, where guests had the opportunity to ask personal planning questions in a supportive and informative environment. Guests also enjoyed lunch and the chance to connect with the Beacon team one-on-one.

Beacon Wealth Management continues to be a trusted resource for West Virginia families navigating the complexities of retirement. The Wisdom 2 Wealth series will continue with future events on topics such as West Virginia Adventures, Medicare Planning, and FBI Case Studies.

Navigating Tax Efficiency: How to Keep More of What You’ve Earned in Retirement

Retirement often introduces a more complex tax picture than many people expect. Instead of a single paycheck, income may come from multiple sources, each with different tax treatment. Tax efficiency in retirement focuses on understanding how these pieces work together and how timing decisions can influence tax exposure over time.  For many Second-Half Journeyers, taxes have historically been a year-end consideration. During retirement, they become an ongoing planning factor that affects income choices, spending flexibility, and legacy considerations. Taking a coordinated approach helps reduce surprises and supports more intentional decision-making.

Retirement withdrawal planning plays an important role in helping individuals and couples understand how to draw from their resources while supporting long-term priorities.  Many retirees hold assets across multiple account types, each with different tax treatment and rules. Without a clear withdrawal strategy, income decisions may feel uncertain or inconsistent. Retirement withdrawal planning helps bring structure to this process by aligning income needs with
